3 Road Trips to Take From Calgary This Summer
Alberta is a spectacularly scenic province, and, if you are staying in and around Calgary, “Cowtown” (as it is affectionately called) is prime for a road trip from just about any direction.
Zoom Rentals recently opened the doors to its brand new location just minutes away from the airport and our new fleet additions like the Hyundai Sonata and Infinity SUV are perfect for hitting the highway.
Need a few ideas of where to begin? Here are some of our very favourite spots to adventure to in the summer.
CANADIAN BADLANDS
The Badlands are famous for hoodoo rock formations, fossil beds, and dinosaur bones, and make for both an incredible and educational experience. Hike amongst geological history and ancient hoodoo clusters at Horseshoe Canyon and Chimney Rock, check out the Royal Tyrell Museum’s comprehensive pre-historic exhibits and be sure to stop for a photo-op with the World’s Largest Dinosaur at the Drumheller Tourist Information Centre.
ICEFIELDS PARKWAY
Cruise along Highway 93 for breathtaking views of glaciers, cascading waterfalls, striking rock formations, and sparkling turquoise lakes. There are countless amounts of trailheads to stop at, explore, and hike along the way as you drive through the heart of the gorgeous Rocky Mountains.
BOOMTOWN TRAIL
Travel back in time to the Wild West on this scenic and storied trail east of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. You will experience beautiful prairie landscapes — including badlands, river valleys, shallow lakes, and the great, big, wide sky — while discovering First Nations history at Buffalo Lake, period architecture in old country towns, dinosaur dig sites, and trading posts and midways steeped in history. With affordable rates, a wide selection of vehicles, and superior customer service, Zoom Rentals is the place to start your road trip.
