Summer is here, and that means there’s no better time to get away from the city and experience Nature’s beauty! These are some of our favourite camping spots a short drive from Toronto.
Located in the Grand River valley, Elora Gorge is one of the best ways to experience this region. Because the Grand River rushes by 22-metre high cliffs here, this is a favourite spot for tubing, kayaking and more! Rush down the rapids for the excitement of a lifetime. Ample hiking trails (don’t stray from those paths – those cliffs are high!), a splash pad for kids to play on in the water, and great fishing make this one of the best camping experiences around – and with plenty of drive-in sites available, it’s fun and easy to pitch a tent! BRONTE CREEK PROVINCIAL PARK
Bronte Creek Provincial Park is that rarest of combinations, a beautiful campground a mere 45 minutes from Toronto. Ideal for family camping trips, Bronte Creek has sites for tents and RVs, a family petting zoo, and interpretive tours of the local flora and fauna! There’s even a disc golf course! Sites go quickly, but keep an eye on cancellations here.
SANDBANKS PROVINCIAL PARK
Sandbanks Provincial Park is a short 2.5-hour drive from Toronto, in Prince Edward County. Featuring over 500 campsites, including larger sites for group camping, this is a great campground for having a great time. The sandy beaches of Sandbanks offer fun in the sun, and the water access means you can go canoeing, kayaking, and even windsurfing! Consider renting a 12-person passenger van and renting a group site to make a trip you’ll remember forever!
